We couldn’t be happier with our brand-new metal porch awning at Summer’s Auto Sales! Diamond Outdoor Builders of the Carolinas did an outstanding job from start to finish—professional, on time, and the quality of their work is excellent. The awning not only looks great but is built to last, and it adds so much value and curb appeal to our dealership. Highly recommend them for anyone needing reliable outdoor building projects. Thank you for a smooth and stress-free experience
Based on my experience with Diamond Outdoors of the Carolinas, I do not recommend using them for your building. Their overall lack of professionalism warrants zero stars.
Diamond Outdoors of the Carolinas is the “partner” company for Capitol Buildings. In early March, I contracted with Capitol Buildings to have some work done on my shed, and paid the required deposit. Capitol Buildings sub-contracted to their “partner” company, Diamond Outdoor, to do the construction and installation. In early May, Diamond Outdoor sub-contracted to an installer, Juan. Juan did poor work and did not have all of the materials to do the job; thus, the work was not completed. Contacting Capitol Buildings was a waste of time because they had sub-contracted the work to Diamond Outdoor. Misty and Martine at Diamond Outdoor would not return phone calls, and when I did actually get Misty on the phone, she blamed Juan for not doing the job. Over the next three months, I called both Capitol Buildings and Diamond Outdoor multiple times a week. Joe with Capitol Building took my information and sent it along, but he didn’t care as the job was sub-contracted to Diamond Outdoor. Simply put, Capitol Building had my money and had pawned me off on someone else. Misty at Diamond Outdoor has the worst organizational skills, can’t return phone calls, blames everyone else for the problem, makes the excuses, has to talk to her manager (Martine), and is generally clueless in how to follow up with customers. Ninety percent of the time, I had to leave messages on her phone regarding the incomplete work. Simply put, Misty and Martine didn’t care; they had cashed the check. As far as Diamond Outdoors was concerned, the issue was with the sub-contractor Juan. Juan, the original installer, didn’t return phone calls regarding the incomplete work, and after a few weeks of calling his phone number was no longer in-service. Finally, on August 4th, I consulted a lawyer, and found that I was within my rights to put a “Stop Payment” on the cashier checks to Diamond Outdoor and to Juan, so I called and left messages on Misty’s phone (Diamond Outdoor) and Joe’s phone (Capitol Buildings) saying such. This got some people’s attention. After an email from Joe at Capitol Building, I sent an informal demand to resolve this issue to both Capitol Building and Diamond Outdoor, or I would be filing a formal demand with a lawyer in court. This informal demand resulted in a phone call from Joa at Diamond Outdoor and a date when some installers would be able to finish the work. That date passed. Calling on August 14th to Diamond Outdoor, I reached the Owner/Manager of both companies, Tristan Bradford. I had several choice words for him, and told him if the work was not completed, I had no problem spending $3000 to $5000 to get this issue resolved with a civil complaint in court. Within a week, Miguel and his team were at my house completing the work. Miguel and his team did a great job, and I would absolutely work with Miguel again. While Miguel and his team were working, I was told they have had to finish or repair several jobs that Juan did, and that Juan routinely does not do good work.
After five months, probably 45+ phone calls, multiple emails, and unproductive conversations, the work was finally complete. I will not ever recommend Diamond Outdoor or Capitol Buildings for type of work, be it metal buildings or anything else—zero stars.
After the building was built I noticed that an entire wall had matching damages, as if the panels were damaged while they were stacked together. There were also several leaks in the roof. It took 11 phone calls to finally have the damaged panels replaced and the crew come out to fix the leaks. The leaks are still not fixed. This business seems to fight a war of attrition with their customers. The delivery a bad product and then continue to drag out an remediation until the customer finally decides it’s not worth trying to get a satisfactory outcome.
Response: There was no rain when the repairs were made. I noticed the leak (there were 2 leaks from the time of construction, 1 was repaired when the assembly crew came back to replace the damaged siding) was still active the first rain after the repair, but like I said in my first review, I had to email several times and had to make a dozen calls to get major damage to an entire side of the building repaired, I didn’t have the time or inclination to continue a “war of attrition” for a fix that I knew would never come. I talked to Misty numerous times and was always given an excuse as to why there wasn’t any communication or resolution. I was given excuses ranging from having to get approval, to waiting on the warehouse manager, to the materials didn’t get delivered, to waiting to have the crew already going to your area. I should’ve done my research and checked reviews prior to purchase because looking at the reviews mine is not an isolated case, it seems to be a way of doing business and the responses by the company exemplify the adversarial relationship they seem to have with their customers.
The reason for the review at this late date was due to an active rain storm that reminded me of the continued issue that I now find myself responsible to fix on a new building.
This is your warning to not choose this company for ANY type of outdoor projects. The work is good but the customer service is TERRIBLE. AFTER GETTING YOUR MONEY, THEY WILL NEVER BE AVAILABLE TO HELP YOU IF SOMETHING HAPPENS! THIS IS YOUR ABSOLUTE WARNING!!! They put up a 3 car garage for us. Last Thursday we’re in the garage playing a game of pool and BAAAANG!!!! The middle door drops out of nowhere, shaking the entire building and scaring the Jesus out of everyone. Long story short now the door is inoperative! Called that Friday and spoke with MISTY (the sarcastic tub of wet clay!) claimed she would send my husband an email so that he could send photos of any damage. Waited for the email until that following Monday. We tried to give them a few days for the email to be considerate of their schedule and other customers because of course we’re not the only ones needing their services…needless to say still nothing!! No email, still hasn’t been put on the schedule for a repair or replacement. It’s now THURSDAY and we’ve just gotten off the phone with Misty (after several attempts) and she is now saying that she will have to call us back NEXT Tuesday (week 2) to put us on the schedule. Again, let this be a warning for you all. You may be satisfied with the work that they do but if something happens with their project it will be impossible for you to reach them for any repairs or replacements. THIS COMPANY DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK.
