Communication between the planer and sales and the forman not good, I requested my gable vents to be put in a specific place and explained it in detail as to why I wanted my gable vents where I wanted them for to three different people.
But instead they decided to tell the forman to put them in a different place after I told him where I wanted them the morning of the start if work, which caused rework and i lost two more weeks because they had to change the plan because they didn't study the building prints before they decided where the vents should be. I had to explain it in detail again why the vents needed to be where i wanted them for circulation because i dont have facia vents and i have a ridge vent. So i needed the gable vents dont low and far apart, They put them up high amd close together this would short circuit the natural circulation of the ridge vent exhausting and the low gable vents as an inlet. I thought they would know this stuff because they built the building.
The job was promised to be done in October and didnt get done till nearly December. I had to reschedule the insulation and light install and my rv ended up in a snow storm. I asked for a discount from the price and they refused.
So fine I will pay full price even though the screwed the job up and took way to long, I couldn't use my shop for 2 months waiting on them.
They were very picking about how they wanted to use their lifts to work around stuff. Like they only knew one way to do the job.
The garage door didn't shut right when they were done, and I was forced to remove conduit and lights because they didn't want to cut holes for the outlets.
They couldn't even be bothered with disconnecting the one wire for the garage door opener. Cuz they "aren't electricians."
Seriously they couldn't figure out how to turn their lifts to extend them over a few feet on stuff against the wall and insisted that I move it so they could run their lift long ways. Which is felt was unnecessary. But they didnt gave materials yet so I gave up arguing and just moved it.
..
Then they tried to blame me for them taking so long on the first day cuz stuff was in the way, but the forman said he would get half done one day and half done on another day and give me a few days in between to move my stuff to the other side and that I only need half the shop cleared at a time. Said that the other guy didnt realize it could all be done in one day even with all the stuff moved.
The delay happened because of their mistakes, because the job was not planned well, and because of rework due to lack of communication. But they still wouldn't offer me any kind of discount for taking a month longer than promised. So im here making a review. Pictured is all that was in the way on their first day. The vents in the wrong place, the vents im the right place, and how clear the other side was in day 2 and 3.
Im paying almost 12k for them to put the $2k worth of materials up and they couldn't be bothered with the simplest of inconveniences.
Very disappointed. But the ceiling does look good. And the vents look good. Credit where its due. But jez it was stressful and costly because of the delays.
Everyone was swamped after the Derecho tore through Iowa. My shop was wiped out. Your crew was the only ones that returned my phone calls. You hire nothing but the best people.
Built over top of existing concrete. Explained how everything would progress. Stressed that I had approval before final payment.
The crew I had never wasted a movement. Each guy knew exactly what the other one was doing.
Building quality was good, no complaints there. Some design details from drafter not communicated to project manager. (Or so the PM claims.) Punchlist not completed, we took care of it ourselves. Worst part was the attempt to bill a change order 2 months after completion of the building. You would think a company that's been around as long as Greiner would know better. Owner got upset and started making threats to me because his project manager on the building isn't taking acccountability for his mistakes.
I am beyond happy with my garage!! Communication between me and Matt were spot on. Wade and crew were hard working and professional. I changed my mind on some doors and locations. This created more work for them. It was clear that they wanted me to get what I want. I did! I highly recommend Greiner Buildings Inc.
