This person, Robert Gilcrest also uses the business names of Method Builders, Inc. and Studio MBA, LLC. He approached our 5-star rated consulting company, Cayenne Consulting, and me personally, for professional consulting services and a written funding proposal relating to a metallic construction concept and funding presentation for a Santa Barbara property he admittedly didn't own at 945 Coyote Road. Nevertheless, we accepted the engagement, offering a courtesy discount, which he accepted, entered into a written contract which he signed on August 1, 2025, and the services were performed precisely as, and when, the service agreement provided although numerous items of information he agreed to provide to us were never received, despite multiple requests. In toto, he breached not less than 6 and as many as 10 material terms of the written agreement. When the requested professional documents were essentially complete, this person suddenly notified me that the target property had been sold to another and he then refused to pay the balance of the service fee which was then due per our agreement with him. He "ghosted" us for days, ignored multiple attempts to reach him by email, then reiterated on August 18, 2025 that he wouldn't pay the outstanding balance unless I and the company agreed to some new terms which, of course, were not consistent with the written contract and were refused. I informed him that, under the agreement, his actions were a material breach and represented a rejection, abandonment and termination of the contract, but that the contract had numerous rights and remedies reserved to me and the company in the event of a breach or failure to pay. He then sent vituperative, insulting, false, defamatory and disparaging emails to me, accusing me of being a predator. In actuality, I have been a member of the CA State Bar since 1974 (currently inactive) and I was a former partner in 2 well-known WLA law firms.
