Purchase was no problem , the crew they sent out didn't have the materials they needed. Had to call the company to translate what they wanted... After I showed them locally where to get what they needed they didn't go get the steel rods that secured the building down. After the fact I had to go spend $220 of my own money they were suppose to supply with... And had to put them in myself.. damaging the tin cause I'm not a barn builder. Called and talked to a guy that was supposedly going to give me a call back .. been over 2 weeks. Not got my money back from the money I spent or the damages to my tin ... They don't care about you or your building.
Peer Review: Experience with Tennessee Metal and Steel Buildings
I’ll say this—my experience with Tennessee Metal and Steel Buildings was a bit hit or miss. On the good side, the shed itself turned out just fine. The crew that showed up to build it was polite, worked efficiently, and was easy enough to deal with. They arrived unexpectedly a day earlier than scheduled but got straight to work.
Now, where things fell short was on the customer service end. Communication was lacking from the start, and I had to follow up more times than I should’ve just to get basic answers. The biggest headache was insulation. There wasn’t any clear, upfront information, and getting in touch with someone who actually knew what they were talking about was harder than it needed to be. We would’ve preferred the shed be fully completed, insulation included, but instead we’re left having to track down an outside vendor and handle that ourselves.
Overall, it felt like a bare-bones job. I was also caught off guard when I was asked to provide materials like silicone to seal the shed, something I didn’t expect to be responsible for. I understand delays and mix-ups can happen, especially around the holidays, but better coordination or even a call back from a manager would’ve gone a long way. Instead, I heard from lower management who didn’t seem fully up to speed on the situation.
At the end of the day, the shed looks good and serves its purpose. Still, the overall experience didn’t quite meet expectations. With the communication issues and the added inconvenience of bringing in an outside vendor, it would’ve been reasonable for the company to offer some kind of partial refund as a gesture to acknowledge the trouble.
My son had shop scheduled to be installed on certain dates. Called two days before install scheduled date thankfully to confirm. They told him no they couldn’t anymore even if material came in cause they’re already booked. Very unprofessional as we had events planned around installs and other contractors. I wouldn’t recommend using them.
I based this carport purchase on price, quality of components and lead time. This was my 1st purchase from this company as Carolina Carports had an extended lead time that wouldnt work. ( have used them in the past for 2 carports and a large building). This was not an experience I could reccomend. 1st issue was time mgt. Said they would be there 2-4pm. Called at 4p to say 6p and arrived at 715p. Next was workmanship issues letting an obviously younger worker try to drive the rebar anchors but he repeatedly missed denting and in one case bending the rebar but continuing to pound it at a severe angle ripping a 2 inch hole in the base runner. (See photos). Second several positions had screws missing and lastly they used cheap metal flanged screws with no washer which is not industry standard ramdomly on roof positions. This Automatically skins paint of the panels to raw metal as it torques leading to rust down the road. These are for use on framing only. (See photos). I replaced the incorrect screws myself and shot galvanized spray paint on the bsse rail damage as i wouldnt want them back on the property.
