US-Steel Buildings

We started the process of purchasing a steel building from US Steel Buildings in September. The design process and the customer service rep. that we spoke with were very easy to work with, and the process was great. Once we decided on a design, we were told it should only be a few short weeks before someone would be on-site to begin construction, and construction should last no more than 2.5 days. After a month and a half of waiting for a construction crew to become available, we finally received our call that our installation crew would arrive on Monday, September 3rd. The crew arrived early Monday morning with a trailer containing only a few supplies and stated that they didn't have the framing materials. They would only be able to drop off the few materials they had and would return on Tuesday to start work. Tuesday came, and after a few calls, the crew arrived at 2 pm. When I arrived home from work around 4:30 pm, they had installed the majority of the base. The lead installer advised me that he hadn't installed the concrete seal package on the base of the metal and that I wouldn't need it. I informed him that this package costs $1,100 and protects the building from water, and that I wanted it installed. He stated he understood and that he would get it when they arrived on Wednesday. On Wednesday, the crew failed to show up and informed the home office that they were experiencing trailer troubles; however, the trailer was still parked in my front yard. Thursday morning, the crew arrived early and worked well for the first part of the morning. However, at 11 am, they took a lunch break that lasted until 2:30 pm, during which they also took long naps in my yard and on the materials that they were supposed to be installing. As a result, the roll-up garage door has a dent at the top. They said they couldn't finish on Thursday and had to come back on Friday. They worked all day Friday with one less crew member than they had the previous day. I inquired on Friday about the Black Foam package that was supposed to keep bugs and insects out, which had been paid for. It was only installed on half of the building. They returned on Saturday to complete the project. During this time, they assured me that the concrete sealant package and the black foam packages had been installed, but I showed them multiple places where they hadn't. I asked for an inspector to come out, called the office, and received no callback for nearly a week. When they finally called me, they said an inspector would come out. The company sent the owner to inspect the building, and he assured me that it was built correctly. I asked about the concrete seal, and he said that the silicone used was "good enough" and that the black foam wasn't necessary. Then, he asked if I would be paying with a check or a card. He became angry with me when I told him I wouldn't pay for services not rendered. At the end of the day, they discounted me the concrete seal and half of the black foam package. They did not offer an apology for the unprofessionalism of their crew, nor did they provide an additional discount for not installing items that were part of the original design package. Nothing.

If I'm being honest, I like the final product, but the road to get there was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. If you are looking for a metal building and don't care about customer service or details, US Steel Buildings may be a suitable option. However, if you require detailed information, excellent customer service, and timely deadlines, I recommend looking elsewhere.

Just had a building installed. Everything went very smoothly. The installer did a great job.

Excellent work and service. They installed my garage much sooner than I expected. I recommend them 100%. Ms. Betsie was on top of everything at all times. I am very grateful for everything.

Installers left ruts ALL OVER my driveway, and they didn’t even try to fix any of it when they left, or even apologize.

If they’d called me first, I would’ve told them to back in so they don’t have problems turning around. Or if they simply looked first. Instead, they pulled in forward and got stuck because they didn’t check.

They spun out over and over on a BRAND NEW gravel driveway I just finished and leveled literally the day before.

There are ruts EVERYWHERE. Then they just took off and didn’t even say sorry about the driveway, didn’t try to rake back any holes that went all the way to the dirt below….not a word.

Very VERY annoyed at the lack of professionalism. I'd NEVER do that to a client that just spent thousands of dollars at your business.

Building leaks from the roof and the roll up door. Contacted them over 6 weeks ago. Still waiting with no updates

The crew did and outstanding job. Everything is plumb, level and square. Their attention to detail is to the point of perfection. I’ve never seen two folks work that fast and hard and the end result is perfection.They had to wait on me for about 2 months to get my site ready for the RV shed. Once I sent Chrystal a text I was ready when they are, she had a crew there the next week.
I would highly recommend if you have the need for a metal building you consider US Steel Buildings
