Winfrey Design Build

Winfrey Design Build brings decades of hands‑on experience to Houston’s custom‑home market. Founder Bruce Winfrey began building tree forts as a child in San Angelo, earned a Construction Science degree from Texas A&M in 1987, and then spent years climbing the ranks of some of the city’s largest home‑building firms. Over the course of his career he has overseen the construction of more than 400 homes and managed an additional 300 custom homes and townhomes while co‑owning a development and construction company for ten years, focusing on Houston’s inner‑loop and in‑town neighborhoods.

Today the firm operates from 7026 Old Katy Rd #309, Houston, TX 77024, and offers both traditional custom home building and a dedicated green‑building practice. In neighborhoods such as River Oaks, Bellaire, Memorial, Montrose, Tanglewood, the Heights, and West University, Winfrey Design Build integrates energy‑saving strategies—site‑specific orientation, selective window placement, and mature‑tree preservation—into each project. The company sources recycled materials where possible, minimizes waste through precise computer‑driven estimating, and works closely with subcontractors to keep resource use low.

Clients are involved from the initial site plan through final selections of window coverings and landscaping, ensuring the finished home reflects modern family lifestyles while reducing long‑term energy costs. With a background that includes field supervision, project and division management, and personal experience living in four self‑built homes, the team combines practical expertise with a focus on sustainable design to deliver residences that meet both functional and environmental goals.
